Latest Updates from Our Project:

Thank you now here’s what comes next.
over 3 years ago – Sat, Dec 19, 2020 at 07:20:32 PM

It’s official; the Quintessential Tabletop campaign has ended and, thanks to your support, is now a reality! A few things need to happen before we can kick off production and fulfillment.

Here's a quick rundown:

First, Kickstarter needs to transfer over the funds so the money is available to make the rewards (this can take up to two weeks).

Next, you’ll receive a survey to confirm your order details. You’ll be able to specify add-ons, adjust the number of QT’s you’d like to order, etc., as well as confirm your shipping address, and contact information. The survey will be sent through BackerKit, and we’ll give you a heads-up before we send it.

The BackerKit invitation email will be sent to the email you’ve been receiving these updates on and will contain a link to your survey. You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. It is, however, important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since we need this information to process your rewards. Have an alternate email you’d prefer we use? Just let us know.

If you need to change your survey responses, decide to purchase add-on items, or update your shipping information, you can click the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after we send the surveys out.) Everything will be confirmed once more before we ship so don’t worry if you need to make a change.

If you have any trouble filling out your survey through BackerKit, you can contact us directly.

An additional survey will be sent out through Survey Monkey towards the end of production (February-ish) for those of you who expressed interest in choosing a color for the surface of the Tabletop (not the wood trim - that stays its natural color). This will give us a chance to define choices (currently the interest seems to be blue or green), then send a final survey to choose your color from the top four chosen. If you prefer the default color of black, you won’t need to do anything further.

Again, thanks for all your support. We can’t wait to send you your Quintessential Tabletop.

24 hours to go...
over 3 years ago – Fri, Dec 18, 2020 at 02:49:24 PM

Well, things are starting to pick up as we move into the last 24 hours of the campaign.  I just wanted to say that I am working on the design for the small cardholder stretch goal today and will be adding a 35K stretch goal (closet hanger) also today since we have blown by 25K.  I also want to say thank you and Happy Holidays to all of you that have backed the Quintessential Tabletop, may the time you spend with friends and family be filled with joy, happiness, and laughter.

Finish line is in sight.

As the campaign moves into its final week I would like to say thank you to all the backers that have supported us so far.  We are finishing up all the necessary data input with Backerkit to make sure everything proceeds smoothly from now until you get to enjoy your own Quintessential Tabletop with your family and friends (I will be sending out another update next week to discuss what comes next).  I have also just finished some designs on several of the stretch goals and want to post what the prototypes look like so far for the token tray and dice tray which will attach to the top of the QT.

Token Tray with 4 compartments
Dice tray with my metal dice I used to test it.
Cardholder
An attempt at...I don't know what I was thinking.

Finally, once we have shipped out all of the QT's to our backers I think Fate will bring us back to do another Kickstarter (coming next spring)...

Quick preview of end boards

End board samples

Here are samples of each of the types of wood and how they will look with danish oil and shellac.  The only one that will vary overall will be the maple boards.  Depending on how much heartwood they have in them, the maple ends can go from white to tan and a mix of both.

On the lighter side here is a picture of the BBEG attacking the ship (thanks Dennis for the photo), all hail Greebo destroyer of worlds (and any of my terrain or minis he can get his paws on).

Captain, I think we have a problem.

A new week of work and fun.

Cardholder for the QT
Dice tray (sides are too high on this version will shorten them)
CNC cutting maple end boards.

So the work has started for the pledges so far and both the CNC and the 3d print farm are hard at work putting out the pieces to build the QT's for everyone.  We have also reached the 12k mark today so every QT will be shipped with an attachable dice tray and cardholder.  So as a stretch goal for the 15k mark will be a token tray holder with partitioned sections (as always all designs will be included in the STL addons files).

Now on to the larger board issue, a lot of people have asked about creating a bigger top for them to use on larger games and such.  I wish we could offer one that could fill this need but from an aesthetic and shipping perspective, this just isn't feasible.  But a possible solution is at hand for those that really want it and are willing to modify their top.  This would work best with the 24"x24" top but you could do it with any of the others.  You will need to get a sheet of 1/4" plywood (any thicker and it will be just to heavy for the magnets) cut to the dimensions you want (You can buy and have it cut to size at Lowes, Home Depot, or local lumber store) and four carriage bolts around 2" long.   Once you have it find the center point by drawing diagonal lines from corner to corner.  Then from the center point measure 10" along each line and drill a hole be enough for your carriage bolt to fit.  You will need to do this on your top also to make matching holes (drill from top-down to avoid creating a huge blowout on your top from drilling it).  This will allow the larger board to sit on top of your QT and be stable.  I do not advise this but it is a solution.  I am still working on the problems and can hopefully come up with something better that won't potentially ruin your top.  So thanks again everyone for believing in this project and until next time may your days be filled with whatever you want them to be filled with.
