June update
almost 3 years ago – Mon, Jun 14, 2021 at 04:59:52 PM

Well, the middle of June is here and we are nearing 50% of the Quintessential Tabletop being shipped.  It is going much slower than I expected and we have had a few issues with packaging to resolve (corners of the tabletop were being damaged during shipping) that have slowed down the process.  We also had some problems with the token tray being very tough to put together and I think that may have been due to weather (designed in winter with less moisture in the air). So I have kerfed the design and the test ones we made are going together much easier.  With that said we will continue work and make sure that everyone receives their Quintessential Tabletop as soon as is possible.

How to assemble add-ons and other important notes

So you will need some glue and rubber bands to assemble each of the add-ons.  Elmers or wood glue are best, but other glues that work with wood will work for these. Enjoy and we are working hard to get them out to everyone.  There was one mistake on the first batches out, I did not update part of the small cardholder when I made it bigger for card sleeves.  All ones from this point on will have the updated part, all of you that got it already I will send out the replacement ASAP.

put these three sides together then add the fourth one. Oh and here is the divider.

You should not have two of these, one should have cutouts so you can draw the cards(messed up and will mail replacements to everyone that got them already). Arrrgh

The Good, The Bad, and how to assembly your QT
almost 3 years ago – Tue, May 18, 2021 at 08:47:11 PM

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all having a great spring and are looking forward to hopefully the end of the plague.  We have been working hard on getting the QT ready to go out the door, but we have fallen behind in our effort.  No matter how hard I to tried to create a budgeted time schedule, things are popping up that knock it out of whack.  Top assembly(painting, coating, and adding the slats to the sides) has been difficult and is slowing down the process.  With that said we have started boxing and will get them out the door as tops are assembled.  Because of this, we will not be using Amazon multi-channel fulfillment and are switching over to Shippo and using their system to ship through UPS, USPS, or whoever they say has the best rates for where you live.  Needless to say, they are going out hell or high water (will try to get the early backers covered first, but it won't be perfect).

Now on to something more enjoyable, I have taken pictures of an unassembled rail system to show how to put together the base.

Set the connector down on your table.
Place the rail on top of it (centered)
Locate the four connectors and screws
Slide the connectors into the slots on the base
Push connector in all the way and screw it down (has a pre-drilled hole), once all four connectors are attached flip over rail system, slap on the top, and enjoy.

So, where to start this update...On the positive side, a majority of the components had been produced and are ready for the assembly process.  With that said a major issue hit that has made me dread writing this update.  When I planned out the timeframe for the project I had a vendor that was going to produce the MDF tops by cutting them out for us to speed up the process.  The first test batch came out pretty good with minimal issues (I was there when these were produced).  Then the second batch came in delayed and well I was able to use about 40% of them for tops after some serious resizing of the ones we could use.  This has led me to scrape having the vendor producing the tops and doing them ourselves which is very time-consuming with the equipment we have here.  So, there will be a delay in when the product can be shipped and I apologize for that.  Right now it is looking like we will start shipping in late May.

Marching right along
about 3 years ago – Thu, Mar 04, 2021 at 07:15:58 PM

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that so far everything is going to plan for the most part and we are still looking to ship the Quintessential Tabletops in May.  The majority of the 3d printing is done and should be finalized by mid-March.  We did make a mistake ordering the wood to make the trim around the tops.  With over a thousand 1/4" strips needing to be in various sizes and although we factored in the kerf we fell a little short (69 24"x24" maple strips to be exact) and will be ordering more wood to finish them up.    With final prep work on the endboards be done by next week, we should be able to begin assembling the tops (painting, setting magnets, and gluing them together).  So if no hitches hit during that process everything after that will be smooth sailing.
